How the iPhone Is Changing Technology

If you were around in 2007, you probably remember the words from Steve Jobs saying that the iPhone was a revolution and had a five years head start on everyone else. It was true, and everybody copied and tried to improve on the formula after the reveal.

Since Apple’s CEO introduced this touch screen phone this historic January of 2007, the world has changed. The way we apprehend technology, our connectivity, everything is different, and we’re barely starting to understand the power of this new technology with younger generations that we’re born surrounded by touch screens.

Nowadays, everyone has a small computer in their pocket, and it’s almost impossible to live without it. Whether you use it for work, social media or entertainment to find out the latest NBA parlay picks, there’s always something happening in the palm of your hand.

However, 10 years after Jobs’ death, what’s left of this ambition to revolutionize the world? Is the iPhone still changing technology?

What Jobs’ Creation Brought

Steve Jobs was the founder of Apple back in the late 1970s. During his time as the head of the company, he became an icon for the way he could captivate audiences and his particular attention to detail.

However, the story didn’t start that well. Jobs was fired from his own company 10 years after starting it, and it was after several years that he came back as the head of Apple to make it the company people know today. During this hiatus, Jobs created Pixar and later sold it to Disney.

When he reprised his position at the top of Apple, it wasn’t the Leviathan we know, but after countless impressive products and Jobs’ acute eye for details, the company started growing. His products stuck with people because they had a daily use that people didn’t know they needed until it was presented to them.

Features We Didn’t Know We Needed

The first iPhone sold over 200 million units, and there are reasons for this. It introduced previously-established features that were either spread across several devices or not very user-friendly and combined them under one easily accessible icon. It’s not the first phone to feature a touch screen, but it’s the first to do it with such precision and smoothness. People used to have an alarm clock; with the iPhone, you had a timepiece, a world clock and custom alarms. You used to go to your computer to access Facebook, but with the iPhone, you could receive your notifications and share your status from everywhere.

The list goes on, but what’s important to consider here is that the iPhone created an earthquake in consumers’ minds. Since Jobs’ tragic demise, the company has been dimmed to lazily follow what was set before without making any significant changes. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Apple’s Innovations After Steve Jobs

Apple continued its line of products with a few hits and misses after the Steve Jobs’ era. In 2017, they introduced Face ID and fingerprint recognition technology, which is now widespread across all devices. They also improved the camera technology with 4K and 3D capture. It wouldn’t be fair to say that Apple hasn’t changed since the iPhone.

As the new iPhone 14 is soon to be unveiled, rumours surrounding the latest mobile phone are going around. Tech experts expect a new cooldown system, a Titanium frame, 8K video recording and a 5G-ready mobile device, and millions of iPhone users can’t wait.
